QChord Maintenance Procedure : How to Replace / Install Cartridge Door
This procedure can be a little awkward. However, once you begin the process will come together.
First, remove bottom section of the QChord from the top.
Turn it upside down on a soft surface such as a towel. Remove 10 phillips head screws.
As you remove the bottom be careful not to disconnect the ribbon cable that connects the top and bottom.
You will be installing the door on the bottom half and might be able to position it without removing the cable.
If it seems easier to separate the top from the bottom, carefully unplug the cable that joins the two sections.
Pull the cable away from the circuit board by lifting one side then the other in a gentle "rocking" motion.
The door assembly includes a spring. Before installing the spring, practice puting the door in place so you will know how it fits.
Getting the spring in the right position is tricky. Notice the long and short hook on either end of the spring.
The plastic door has a long and short shaft. The side of the spring with the long hook fits over the long plastic shaft with the hook of the spring at the rear of the plastic door. As you position the door by placing the shafts into the holes provided, you will need to twist the spring about half way to create enough tension to keep the door closed.
The small hook on the spring fits into a slot at the top of the shaft recepticle.
